Benefits working with larger potted plants

REDUCED MAINTENANCE AND ONGOING COSTS;

IMPROVED PLANT HEALTH AND SURVIVAL RATES

COST EFFECTIVENESS: While larger potted plants may have a higher upfront cost, the benefits of quicker establishment, reduced maintenance, and fewer replacements can make them more cost-effective over time.

TIME SAVING: Using larger potted plants can save significant time in achieving desired functionality and aesthetics, allowing for quicker project completion.

GREATER RESILIENCE: Taller plants are typically more resilient to environmental stressors such as drought, pests, diseases and competitive weed species. Their established root systems and larger biomass make them better equipped to survive and thrive in challenging conditions.

FEWER REPLACEMENTS NEEDED: The improved survival and establishment rates of larger potted plants mean fewer replacements are necessary. This saves time, effort, and money in the long run, making maintenance easier and more efficient.

ENHANCED GROWTH RATE: With more initial biomass and stronger root systems, larger potted plants often exhibit faster growth rates once planted in the ground. This leads to quicker coverage and establishment, less weeding and spraying.

LESS WATERING NEEDS: Larger plants with well-developed roots can access moisture from deeper soil layers more effectively than smaller plants.

STRONGER ROOT SYSTEM: Plants in larger pots generally have more developed and robust root systems. When transplanted into the ground, these strong root systems can establish more quickly, leading to healthier and more vigorous growth.

REDUCED TRANSPLANT SHOCK: Larger potted plants are better equipped to handle the stress of transplantation. The more extensive root system and greater soil volume help minimize transplant shock, allowing the plant to adjust more easily to its new environment.

INSTANT VISUAL IMPACT: Larger plants create an immediate aesthetic impact in the garden. They provide instant greenery and fullness.

QUICKER MATURITY: Plants from bigger pots are more mature than those from smaller containers. This maturity means they will reach their full size; speeding up the process of achieving the desired look and functionality.

ENHANCED SOIL STRUCTURE: Larger root systems help improve soil structure by creating channels for air and water to penetrate more deeply. This can enhance the overall health of the soil, benefiting all plants in the vicinity.

BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEM HEALTH: Establishing larger plants more quickly can create a more diverse and balanced ecosystem. This can attract beneficial insects, birds, and other wildlife, contributing to a healthier and more vibrant environment.

You may ask HOW?!
We stripped it all back and focused on what really matters:

Just a passionate small team, some gumboots, and rows of strong, well-rooted plants grown on a retired kumara paddock.
Simple, local, affordable—and grown for our Northland conditions.

Come check it out.
Real plants. Real people. Real prices.
